The 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists Are (Still) Up To Great Things

File this under Things We Wish We Were Invited To: Last Wednesday, a glamorous fashion show, tea, and dinner took place at LA's Chateau Marmont, attended by Anna Wintour, the Beckhams, Lena Dunham, and about a million other glamorous celebrities. The event was designed to showcase the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists' work — and for each of the designers, it was another strong step taken toward that coveted $300,000 award. The winner isn't announced till June 2014, so the finalists still have quite the road ahead of them, but they've stayed strong. Is it just me, or have they gotten even more talented since the last time we checked in on them?

Juan Carlos Obando

Jessica Alba recently wore an amazing slinky skirt/blouse combo from his Fall 2013 collection, so we're not too worried about the future of this L.A.-based, Colombian-born womanswear powerhouse. Here's a shimmery, danceable piece from Wednesday's show.

Veronica Beard

This look from the sister-in-laws' eponymous line paired strong-woman separates with beachy undercurrents. Love the buttoned-up black top with flat sandals and endless leg.

Marc Alary

These are "gazelle rings." And we need them today.

Todd Snyder

This cardigan-and-tie combo for dudes is something we can totally get behind. Classy men of the world, unite!

Ovadia & Sons

Ovadia & Sons are something of a man's-man brand (are you seeing the beard on that model?), but we are not deterred. We know this Fall 2013 coat would look better on us.

Tome

Tome makes the coolest clothes. We want to call them "simple," but that just seems so reductive.

Parabellum

As you may recall, Parabellum makes fine leather goods. Simple leather belts haven't been particularly fashion-forward for a while, but maybe this is the beginning of a resurgence. Anything to erase the memory of those pink studded belts that some of us were obsessed with circa 2002.

Tim Coppens

More menswear that we'd like to steal from Mr. Coppens.

Public School NYC

I think I speak for many women when I say that I have a legitimate crush on the guys behind Public School NYC. They're so cute and their personal style gets me every time. And they've got the talent to back it up. Exhibit A: dip-dyed ombré plaid button-down.

P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if they walked away with the award.

Nonoo

Whether or not Misha Nonoo wins that $300,000 with her world-traveler aesthetic, her gorgeously wearable clothes will definitely keep making their way into famous (and less-famous) wardrobes all around the globe.
