Aunt Becky Is Back & It's Glorious

by Nick Romano

With the news of Full House returning for a new original series on Netflix called Fuller House , my mind instantly goes to which of our favorite Tanners will be returning. While original cast members John Stamos (Uncle Jesse), Candace Cameron-Bure (D.J.), Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) and Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) have all signed on, what about Aunt Becky? Actress Lori Loughlin, who portrayed the character on the beloved sitcom from 1988 to 1995, reprised her role as Aunt Becky on Watch What Happens Live , and now I want nothing more than to see her official return.

With acting assistance from Cohen and his special guest Jerry O'Connell — who sported a blonde wig — Loughlin reenacted a scene from the Season 7 episode "Michelle a la Carte." With Cohen playing baby Michelle and O'Connell playing "the pivotal role" of D.J., the trio took us back to that moment when Michelle wanted to give up on the soapbox derby race. Cohen just can't seem to pull off the Olsen twins' magic, even with his childish pout, but O'Connell was spectacular as D.J. and got into the role. As for Loughlin, she reminded us of all she brought to Full House. In a house full of men raising young girls, it was important for D.J., Michelle and Stephanie to have a female figure, and no one was better at girl talk than Aunt Becky.

Watch the trio reenact the scene in the video below.

Loughlin recently told Access Hollywood that would only return as Aunt Becky for the 13-episode run of Fuller House if payment is "fair." But with buzz building around this nostalgic reprisal, I can't imagine Netflix leaving Aunt Becky out of the fun. We could all use someone like her in our lives, and here are the top reasons why she's the greatest.

She Always Knew How To Put Jesse In His Place

Uncle Jesse always gave his wife a hard time. I guess once a wise-ass rockstar, always a wise-ass rockstar. But Aunt Becky always had him wrapped around her finger, which is probably why she could put up with his shenanigans for so long.

She's a Fun Mom

Despite her perpetual optimism and overall suburban housewife look, she has a fun and wild inner spirit. I loved watching her rock out with her kids, and prove to the girls that they're just as cool as boys.

She Was Always There For The Girls

When there was something Michelle, D.J. and Stephanie couldn't talk about with their dad or uncles, they turned to Aunt Becky, and she always had great advice to dish out — whether it was involving girl troubles or misogynist boys. Though little Michelle probably didn't know the word misogyny, she knew it when she saw it.

She Was The Perfect Balance To Jesse's Crazy

Jesse was always getting in over his head and reeling in that rocker lifestyle of his. If Becky wasn't there to even things out, he would've fell to pieces, which is why they make a dynamite parenting duo.

She Made A Great Co-Host

Opposite Danny Tanner on Wake Up San Francisco, she proved to be the best part of waking up.
