This Earth Day Video Is Basically Nature Porn

Earth Day was April 22nd. Did you recycle? DID YOU?! JK. (No, seriously, you better recycle.) The end of April is a tricky month to get recognition because 4/20 sends everyone running to any McDonalds serving all day breakfast. I completely understand if your belated 4/20 celebrations were taking precedence, but hopefully you squeezed in some healthy recycling, took a walk outside or dimmed your lights to celebrate the planet we live on. If not, watching this beautiful Earth Day nature video will cancel out any bad karma you got for missing the holiday.

This winter has been rough on the Northeast and Midwest, so it's easy to forget the stunning beauty that lies under the snow, in the forests and around the world. This slow-mo video enables the viewer to hone in on thousands of tiny details the naked eye would skirt over.

All this video is really encouraging—other than that we appreciate the natural beauty around us—is that we slow down long enough to be overwhelmed by all the details we'd otherwise miss. I live in LA, where the natural beauty is so evident it could literally smack you in the face, and I still go entire days without taking notice. So think of this video as a beautiful, abstract call to action that maybe we should appreciate mother nature just the tiniest bit more than we do now.

Here's "The Coolest Nature Video Ever" (not an overstatement):

Not much is known about this video. The original footage hasn't been released. It was edited by Roen Horn for The Brain Power and the music, "Hello Tomorrow" is by Karen O. the Brain Power is a site dedicated to "discovering the amazing world of sciences, constructions, designs, technologies, transportation," according to their website.

The slow motion is too perfect. Look at that rain drop:

And the venus fly trap?! It haunts me:

Is that creepily reminding anyone else of Little Shop of Horrors?

If you're still trying to brush up on Earth Day 2015, here are few other things that happened:

Kim Kardashian shared her earthiest bikini selfie

Because nothing says "Happy Earth Day" like a bikini shot in front of the plant wall. The picture is from Kim's new book, Selfish, according to her Instagram post.

Google came up with a What Animal Are You? quiz

It's no secret that Google pulls out all the stops on holidays, both major and minor. Yesterday, you could navigate the quiz through the homepage and unleash your inner animal.

Jared Leto supported WWF

Jared Leto is, of course, doing his part while making us swoon. Yesterday he posted a video as a WWF Global Ambassador explaining how he's involved in the World Wildlife Fund. (And so is Google, hence the quiz.)

Oh, and FYI: Jared took the quiz and he's a woolly mammoth.

John Stamos become one with nature

Uncle Jesse, crushing it per usual.
