See All The Pieces Of Kate Moss In 'W's May Issue

by Augusta Statz

What exactly is it about Kate Moss? I mean, besides the fact that she’s super gorgeous. She’s just got that something that we can’t quite put our finger on. For the May issue of W magazine, Kate Moss was photographed by Craig McDean to create a photo series that explores the pieces that make her, well, Kate Moss.

In the pictorial, “Pieces of Kate,” McDean explores her je ne sais quoi by literally photographing pieces of her, striving to capture her essence. All of the pictures combine to showcase that “Ms. Moss is far greater than the sum of her (gorgeous) parts.” You can say that again.

“We turned to Kate Moss, who broke all the preconceptions of what a model should look like when she started out 27 years ago, at age 14. Thanks to her contagious laugh, cooler-than-cool personal style, and boundless energy, Moss is still at the top of her game and has appeared on the cover of W more than anyone else,” said Stefano Tonchi, Editor in Chief of W magazine. “In ‘Piece of Kate’, the photographer, Craig McDean attempts to quite literally deconstruct her inexplicable allure.”

And you’ll be glad he did. In the 14-page spread, Moss wears the best of pre-fall, featuring designs from Miu Miu, Céline, Dior and more. See Kate Moss like you’ve never seen her before, baring it all, in this highly artistic ode to the thing that can’t quite be named about Kate Moss.

View the full spread in the magazine or online now. I recommend the magazine, so you can tear out and hang these photos on your wall. That’s what I’m planning on doing, at least.
