Chrissy Teigen Vows To Stop Photoshopping

by Lauren Turner

To get an Instagram to look like one from a celebrity, you have to get the right angle, with the right outfit, and definitely the right photoshopping app. Unless you're Mrs. John Legend, because Chrissy Teigen is quitting photoshopping her photos and we couldn't be more proud of the body positive celebrity. What started as an attempt to document her cooking battle bruises ended with Teigen recognizing something about herself (and all women) that should be screamed from the rooftops.

While working on her new cookbook, Teigen acquired a few bruises and she wanted to show them off, and when she took the photo, she noticed her stretch marks. But instead of photoshopping them out, Teigen proudly posted the image on Instagram. And of course, when she appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show, this had to be discussed. "I have those apps, those Facetunes, those Photoshopping ones, and I just didn't feel like doing it anymore — and I'm never doing it again," Teigen said, "because I think we forget what normal people look like. The standard is so ridiculous."

What Teigen is saying isn't meant to bash people that use those apps, because you do you, boo boo. But instead, Teigen is merely recognizing that we've lost sight of true beauty, making her that much more of a body positive icon.

But back to that whole "normal people" thing. I think this is the key. When girls look at pictures of Kim Kardashian on Instagram, is that what they think they're supposed to look like? For me, it was video girls and models (duh). And I can remember a time when I thought that the way I looked wasn't the way I should look. But now that I'm an adult (lol) and I can truthfully say: stretch marks are real and a lot of people have them, so they should be celebrated, not erased.
