Bat For Lashes & John Metcalfe Recorded A Song

by Kristie Rohwedder

In the two and a half years since Bat For Lashes (real name: Natasha Khan) gave the world the perfect album that is The Haunted Man, the singer-songwriter-goddess has been sprinkling new music into the universe here and there: Her cover of Son Lux’s song “Plan the Escape” appeared on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 OST, she contributed “Skin Song” to the Body of Songs compilation, she collaborated with producer Jon Hopkins on “Garden's Heart”, and now she’s recorded a song with composer and violist John Metcalfe. “Just Let Go” by John Metcalfe featuring Natasha Khan is everything I need on this dreary Friday afternoon. The track will appear on Metcalfe's to-be-released LP, The Appearance of Colour. You can check it out over at NME.

Welp, the more I listen to this song, the more I hyped I get for Khan to bless us with yet another album. No, Bat For Lashes has not officially announced if/when she will release a fourth album, but I've put the cart before the horse. Not sorry about it. I have no doubts that whenever she does drop her fourth album, it'll be yet another gorgeous work of art. Frankly, Khan has given fans zero reasons to worry: Not only do her first three albums boast some of the best music that's been released in the last 10 years, but post-Haunted Man tracks like "Plan the Escape", "Skin Song", and "Garden's Heart" are bonafide stunners. Nothin' but good stuff.

And as for that Autotuned dream that is her collaboration with Metcalfe?

I was not ready for that beautiful, brilliant jelly. Add it to the "bonafide stunners" list.
