Chrissy Teigen Proves WHCD Is More Than Nerd Prom

by Keertana Sastry

Well everyone, it's official. Nerd Prom is definitely not just for nerds anymore. In fact, it's becoming more and more about the celebrities invited to the party. The 2015 White House Correspondents' Dinner was almost more about the host and the celebrities that graced the red carpet than the White House correspondents. But it doesn't seem like these journalists care all that much, considering how many of them are taking photo after photo with all of the actors, athletes, musicians, and more entertainers who are attending the event. The biggest photo of the night so far has been Katie Couric, Chrissy Teigen and Jenna Dewan-Tatum striking a suggestive, hilarious pose while at the event, which showed not only the fun that everyone's been having, but also that Nerd Prom has really become an A-list affair.

This isn't a change that came suddenly. For the last few years, people have talked about the effect of more and more celebrities being invited to the White House Correspondents' Dinner. CNN even had a long conversation about it before Cecily Strong and President Obama's speeches during the event, and the conversation included a celebrity, comedian D.L. Hughley. In fact, journalist Patrick Gavin has even made a documentary called Nerd Prom that touches on the topic of how the Dinner does at times shift focus to the red carpet, the parties, and the celebrities and brushes past the Dinner itself.

Here's the photo that Jenna Dewan-Tatum posted from the dinner:

But she's not the only celebrity at the event. Everyone from Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz...

...To comedian Billy Eichner and actress Gabourey Sidibe attended the Dinner.

And White House correspondents and journalists from many major publications jumped at the chance to get their picture with big names in showbiz.

But who says this is a problem? It seems like the White House Correspondents' Dinner has just become a fun event that allows journalists and celebrities to come together, make some jokes, and take a few photos.
