The wait is finally over: Mariah Carey's new single, "Infinity," is here and it proves once and for all that she's the Queen of Throwing Shade. I'm serious: Mariah Carey's "Infinity" lyrics cast more shade than a mighty Oak (and believe me, I looked it up, and those trees are super shady). Who's the target of Mimi's vicious musical attack? Her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, seems like a safe bet (though we can't say for certain). The "Fantasy" singer hasn't put out a song this scathing since 2009's "Obsessed" (which was rumored to be about rapper Eminem), and frankly, I'm loving it.

Carey has always had a knack for coming up with clever (and often hysterical) turns of phrase, but if you ask me, she's really outdone herself this time. "Infinity" has me cackling like Ursula the sea witch from start to finish! Will it become Carey's next No. 1 hit? No, I don't think so — but as I've said before, commercial success isn't everything. To my ears, "Infinity" is the best single MC's put out since "#Beautiful" in 2013, and that makes me very happy. Hopefully, it's a sign of good things to come.
