The City of Baltimore is currently experiencing overwhelming civic unrest due to the loss of citizen Freddie Gray. Gray's death was due to injuries sustained to his spinal cord and lack of medical attention by the Baltimore Police. Gray's funeral was held on Monday and soon after, the city erupted when demonstrations and protests turned violent. Many cases of looting and rioting have also been reported along with a horrifying number of injuries to citizens and police. The situation has become so dire that the Governor of Baltimore has declared a State of Emergency and enlisted the National Guard to protect the city. The Mayor of Baltimore Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has also issued citywide curfew from 10 pm to 5 am and the police have begun using tear gas to clear crowds and riots. The state of Baltimore is grim to say the very least.
