The All-Female '21 Jump Street' Needs These Women

by Jennifer Still

If you're a comedy fan, you've likely seen (and loved) the amazingly hilarious 21 Jump Street movie, and the follow up — aptly titled 22 Jump Street — starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. The big screen adaptation of the popular '80s TV show was a major hit, and for good reason: it was REALLY good. And now it's about to get even better, because it's just been announced that an all-female version of 21 Jump Street is in the works and is being penned by the immensely talented Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs. Talk about a double whammy! I'm SO pumped, you guys.

This is all pretty new, with Tracking-Board reporting that the ink has only just dried on the contracts for this project, so there's not much in the way of serious details yet. But so what? I don't need to know the nitty gritty to start getting excited for what is sure to be an awesome all-female comedy. We've already got an all-lady Ghostbusters , and now 21 Jump Street? YAAAS, QUEEN! (See what I did there?)

Since nothing has been set in stone other than that a new 21 Jump Street is actually happening, that means we've got room to dream of the perfect cast. There are only two leading roles, but there are things called cameos and supporting roles that mean we can totally fill this sucker up with some amazing women. Who's ready? Let's do this!

Amy Poehler & Tina Fey

That's right, I'm counting Amy and Tina as one person, because they come as a pair, in my books. Of course, it's a total pipe dream to think they'd take on the starring roles in the 21 Jump Street remake, but imagine how AMAZING it would be if they did? The only thing funnier than Amy and Tina as themselves is Amy and Tina going undercover as high school students.

Ellie Kemper

We were all first exposed to Ellie Kemper's greatness on The Office, and now that she's starring in The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, her genius has become even more pronounced. Ellie could pull off the whole high school schtick with hilarious ease, and I'd love to see her take part in this movie.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is an absolute comedy queen. Seriously, have you seen The Heat (among others)? SO GOOD. If anyone's a shoe-in for an all-female remake of a classic dude comedy, it's gotta be her, right?

Emma Stone

Emma Stone is a natural, and she's already done the whole high school comedy thing — albeit under different circumstances — so she'd fit right in here. Just imagine her trying to be totally cool and casual and totally not succeeding at staying undercover! It'd be amazing.

Jennifer Lawrence

Much like Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence has that endearing awkwardness that translates into a natural charm and hilariousness on and off screen. Maybe we should even pair the two of them up! They could be the new buddy comedy duo we never knew we needed! Oh man, I'm kind of a genius for coming up with that, right?

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is killing it on Veep (who am I kidding? She kills it in everything she does), but she needs more big screen comedy roles. I need her to do more big screen comedy roles. Imagine if she joined 21 Jump Street with Tina & Amy? Or even one of the two? Ah, my brain is about to explode from all the awesomeness.

Let's get this movie made!
