What Happened After '10 Things I Hate About You?'

by Caitlyn Callegari

I may have only been in elementary school when 10 Things I Hate About You premiered in 1999, but I knew then as I do now, that it would be a film I’d love my entire life through. I mean, it's not hard to see why. It has all the makings of an instant cult classic: epic love story, quick-witted humor, social commentary, and great tunes to jam to. The only thing negative about holding a particular movie as your favorite for 16 whole years, is that while you grow and change, it doesn't. The characters are all stuck in a perpetual state of adolescence and it sucks that we don’t get to know what happens to them after we leave them. Or, do we?

I don’t know if you all know anything about fanfiction, or if you’re willing to even admit it if you are, but I’m about to introduce you to your first taste of it. If you, like I, have been wondering for years what happened to the 10 Things I Hate About You characters after the credits rolled, you’re in luck. Because, I’ve just watched the movie for the umpteenth time and I think I’ve finally got a good grasp on what most likely happened in their fictional futures.

So, without further ado, here is what probably happened to the characters after the credits rolled:

Kat & Patrick

One of those rare high school couples that are in it for the long haul, Patrick followed Kat to New York where she graduated Summa cum laude from Sarah Lawrence. Patrick, not ever having been the school type, instead spent what would have been his college years writing the next "Great American Novel." He maintained his writer lifestyle by working a series of odd jobs, including a few lucrative modeling gigs...because he's super hot, obvs.

Kat is now a tenured professor of Women's Studies at Sarah Lawrence. She and Patrick are currently writing a book of poetry together, as he stays home with their two daughters, Juliet and Viola.

Bianca & Cameron

The pair dated for two years and were crowned Prom King and Queen before having an amicable break up on the day of graduation. Cameron went on to be the ambassador to France, after discovering his love of the language and culture while tutoring Bianca in the subject.

Bianca followed in her father's footsteps and became an OBGYN. They now run a joint practice and co-own a vacation home in the Hamptons where they spend summers visiting Kat and her family.

Bianca recently joined Tinder while on vacation in Paris, where she and Cameron have since reconnected.

Joey

Ditching school to pursue his modeling career, Joey's success was short lived. He now resides in his mother's basement and splits his time between running a Meninist twitter account and manning his two mile long newspaper route.

Ms. Perky

Reinvigorated by the wild success of the 50 Shades of Grey series, Ms. Perky took an early retirement from her career as a Guidance Counselor. With her schedule clear, she finally found the time to buy a thesaurus. She later finally self-published her erotic novel entitled, Reginald's Rendezvous, to moderate success. She inked a deal with Amazon, and is currently working on the sequel, alliterative title pending.

Mr. Morgan

Now the rightful principal of Padua High School, Mr. Morgan has instituted a diversified reading list and curriculum.

Also, a zero tolerance policy on calling out in class.

Michael

A high powered entertainment lawyer, Michael lives in Beverly Hills with his five beautiful children and his wife, Paris Hilton.

He and Cameron remain great friends.
