What's It's Like To Be A Woman At The Gym

Being a female at the gym is often the worst. You could be wearing headphones, a turtleneck and baggy sweatpants, and still catch a guy glancing over at your treadmill. And the sad truth is that you should be able to wear whatever you'd like to the gym without worrying about a man standing behind your elliptical watching you workout, and that shouldn't be a tall order. There are a lot of reasons we love to workout. And even when we don't love to work out, we still have ways to make yourself workout in the morning, or after work when you'd really rather just go to bed. But every time an annoying guy follows you around as you debate whether or not you want to do weights, or go to spin class, it makes us seriously regret our decision to go to the gym in the first place.

Thankfully, our friends at Buzzfeed made a video detailing every problem a woman has ever faced at the gym. And can I just say, B L E S S. I don't understand what part about running tights, no make-up and resting bitch face gives them the "come and get it" vibe. None. There are zero signs beckoning you to come hither.

Here's Buzzfeed's, "What It's Like To Be A Woman At The Gym":

In order for this to really ~sink in~, we decided to break it down. So, gentlemen, here are 6 things men need to stop doing to women at the gym:

1. Staring at her boobs while pretending to do yoga

Who are you fooling right now? Why is a women casually working out on a yoga mat somehow an invitation for you to bring your yoga mat 2 feet away? We are not workout buddies. Please step away.

2. Not giving up even after a woman has specifically told you she doesn't want to talk to you anymore

If a girl excuses herself, or says anything along the lines of "I'm just trying to work out by myself," she's politely trying to say, "please get the f*ck away from me right now." She's had a long day, is trying to get through her workout and needs you to stop speaking immediately.

3. Offering to spot her when she clearly doesn't look like she needs help

Of course, come help if it looks like someone needs help. But if this chick just wants to lift weights and veg the eff out, please let her.

4. Asking a bunch of never-ending questions to hide the fact that you're staring at a woman's butt

Just like when someone is answering with one word texts, it's time to stop texting them, when a woman at the gym is only answering with a smile or nod, it means she really doesn't want your attention.

5. Making awkward and unnecessary conversation while watching a woman open and close her legs

STOP. Whatever it is you're thinking JUST STOP and while you're at it, stop staring at our legs and every other body part every time it moves.

6. Offering to help her stretch

...

Absolutely not. Literally never.
