In Which We Imagine What Joe Zee's Fashion Camp Entails

by Michelle King

Elle creative director Joe Zee and Parsons professor Rob Younkers have co-founded a summer camp for aspiring young designers. The camp, Stitch Fashion, runs for two weeks in East Hampton, and is actually pretty neat (though the price—about $2,000—makes it pretty exclusive). Campers will get advice from top industry experts, as well as the chance to illustrate, design, execute, and style pieces. The kids attending this camp will definitely be put to work and should take home oodles of knowledge—or at least something to brag about. Still, I couldn't help but imagine a fashion camp that's not so work intensive...

9:30-10:30: Breakfast. In addition to eating, we will also be practicing which Instagram filter is ideal for photographing eggs benedict and orange juice. Note: It's not Kelvin. Nothing will ever be Kelvin.

10:30-11:30: For their morning activity, campers are given the choice between one of two classes. They may either learn how to properly say the names of difficult to pronounce designers, such as Givenchy and Rodarte, or they can work on curating a Pinterest board.

11:30-12:30: Campers will read fashion magazines by the lake, which, incidentally, is all real summer camp is.

12:30-1:30: Lunch. Please note that lunch is not eaten in the cafeteria, but is consumed on the go. Campers are encouraged to say, "I'd love to sit, but I am crazy busy today! Maybe after Fashion Week?"

1:30-2:30: Campers will compete in an obstacle course where they'll face challenges such as dodging the street style photographers of low-traffic blogs, jumping in heels, and running while carrying a ten pound purse.

2:30-5:30: The last portion of the day will be dedicated to watching Sex and the City episodes on loop.
