Janelle Monae Kills It In B&W At The Met Gala

by Marc Cuenco

All hail the queen of signature style. Janelle Monae wore a caped, black and white H&M ensemble to the 2015 Met Gala and she, as predicted, looked absolutely divine. The neck detail on her top gave a nod to the Gala's theme, inspired by the "China: Through The Looking Glass" exhibit at the Costume Institute, but otherwise, the look was classic Monae.

Being the superwoman that she is, the singer completed her look with a floor length cape, making this the second time in a row that she's worn one to the Met Gala. Who could forget Monae's red cape designed by Tadashi Shoji from last year?

When it comes to bringing a touch of eccentric glamour to the red carpet, Monae serves the right amount of attitude and sophistication, which is the reason why she is one of the most exciting celebrities to look out for at these events. Her stylist Maeve Reilly completed Monae's clean and sharp look with ankle-strapped heels, silver jewelry, and statement clutch.

Monae also kept her regal yet playful Met Gala look with a long braid — also a sequel from her 2014 'do. And just like Monae, a pop of color with her bold, red lip. Stunning.
