John Legend Will Perform At H&M's NYC Opening

by Eliza Florendo

I'm pretty sure John Legend has the voice of a actual angel. He's got almost a hypnotizing quality that you can't help but keep listening. And now, New Yorkers can experience his beautiful voice live, because John Legend is performing during H&M's grand opening on 34th street in Manhattan on May 20.

Why is this store opening so special, you ask? Because it's H&M's largest store ever. In the world. Surpassing the size of the Times Square and Fifth Ave hubs at 63,000 square feet, according to WWD. Talk about a lot of merch! It officially opens at noon on the 20th.

In a press release, Daniel Kulle, president of H&M North America, said, "We are thrilled to be opening our world's largest store in Herald Square, a historic retail hub, that exemplifies our continued commitment to job creation and growth in New York City. With the opening of such a monumental store, we are honored to have such an inspirational talent as John Legend at this event."

And you won't find just their signature basics—the gigantic shop will feature H&M's home collection, a shoe section, cosmetics, sportswear, and maternity wear. Plus four floors solely dedicated to men and women's fashion. And to top it all off, it boasts a 30 foot atrium. Basically, it's a superstore for almost all of your needs. And on 34th and Sixth Avenue? Pretty impressive.

To commemorate the opening, John Legend will be cutting the ribbon and performing, and twenty lucky winners will participate in a meet and greet, which will be chosen randomly. And if that isn't enough incentive, H&M will be giving out "Access to Fashion" passes to the first 1,000 shoppers, with values that range from $10 to $1,000.

And it doesn't end there—shoppers can donate their old pieces of clothing on opening morning, and will receive 20% off their their next shopping trip for every bag they donate. I'm liking how this is sounding, H&M! Shoppers who come donate before 12:00 PM can win gift cards to H&M worth $50 to $100, as well as the voucher. It's a win-win!
