Taylor Swift's New "Bad Blood" Posters Are So Good

by James Tison

Doesn't Taylor Swift understand how delicate our hearts are? We can't handle all this teasing! Earlier this week, it was announced that Taylor Swift will debut her "Bad Blood" music video at the Billboard Music Awards May 17. Since then, Swift has been titillating fans on Instagram with promotional shots for the video, consisting of insanely awesome photos of the cast of badass ladies who are set to appear in the clip. I don't know about you, but my brain is racing trying to guess what the video will be about.

So far, we've been able to glean that the video will be set in some sort of futuristic, stylized setting, and that it'll include quite a few awesome, badass women — including Zendaya and Hayley Williams. It's directed by Joseph Kahn, who not only helmed her "Blank Space" video, but also directed the videos for Backstreet Boys hit "Backstreet's Back," Brandy and Monica's "The Boy is Mine," and Britney Spears's "Toxic" — so, you know, basically he's the greatest music video director ever.

The imagery in the stills are extremely reminiscent of Sin City, which makes me think the video may include some kind of epic superhero narrative. Taylor Swift is a bona fide badass, and Kahn loves making her look like one; if these posters are any indication, Swift will be the baddest of them all. Here's who we know to be involved so far, based off of Swift's Instagram — and who I think they'll be playing:

Zendaya as "Cut-Throat"

If Zendaya's playing the villain, I have no problem with that. Just look at her! The attitude, the outfit, the knife... I love it all! Be careful though, Zendaya: band-aids don't fix major knife wounds either.

Gigi Hadid as "Slay-Z"

Gigi Hadid has come a long way from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Not sure whose side she's on here, but my guess is she's playing a femme fatale with a troubled past who's out for justice.

Hayley Williams as "The Crimson Curse"

Is it just me, or does she look an awful lot like "Lulu" from The Fifth Element? It can't just be me. I mean, look:

Here's Lulu...

Great movie, classic costumes, love it. Well....

Here's Hayley Williams On Set...

If this character is inspired in any way by Lulu, that makes me think Hayley Williams could be some sort of injured messiah at the center of the action. Maybe Taylor will have to save her!

Lily Aldridge as Frostbite

Well, wait, now she looks like a villain, too. Are they all villains? Is this video about a team of bank robbers out to take over the world!?

Taylor Swift as "Catastrophe"

What we know for sure is that Taylor Swift will star in the video as anything she damn well pleases, because she's Taylor Swift. Now that we've seen all the other characters, I don't know what to think about Catastrophe. Hero? Villain? Serial monogamist with a hunger for vengeance?!

I never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait for the Billboard Music Awards.
