by Marc Cuenco

It was a fashion show that had cinematic drama worthy of the Palme d'Or. Dior's 2016 resort show, held two days before the annual Cannes Film Festival, was a glitzy affair that brought out some of the most internationally renowned celebrities to the Palais Bulles ("Bubble Palace"), located in the South of France. Oscar winner and Dior spokesperson Marion Cotillard was their to support her friend, creative director Raf Simons, as he showed his latest cruise collection. Also in attendance were Dakota Fanning, recent MET Gala attendee Zoë Kravitz, and Australian actress Teresa Palmer. Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, who wore a graphic Dior suit, also posted an Instagram from the venue.

Models in Dior weaved in and out of the famed Palais Bulles, an architectural masterpiece owned by Pierre Cardin. Later, the legendary fashion designer was snapped chatting backstage with Cotillard and Simons. The latter said that the resort collection was inspired by the French Riviera, which served as a stunning backdrop for the show. Wearing a strapless black and white cocktail dress, Effie Gray star Fanning was in awe of the collection as well the scenery.

"I liked the short flouncy dresses and skirts," Fanning said. "I always look at things that are short because I'm a shorter girl and I can't wear the things those really tall girls wear... It's so great to be in this location. It's really kind of crazy."
