Another Earthquake Has Struck Nepal

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, another major earthquake struck Nepal near Mount Everest Tuesday. The 7.3-magnitude quake's epicenter was 42 miles west of the town Namche Bazaar, located near the Chinese border between the Himalayan mountain and the capital city of Kathmandu. Within an hour of the quake, two aftershocks with magnitudes of 5.6 and 6.3 were also felt. Kathmandu suffered much of the devastating quake on April 25 that left more than 8,150 people killed and another 17,860 injured. Dozens have been reported dead, according to The New York Times.

The AP reported Tuesday's earthquake caused people to rush out of their homes and into the streets. Officials said the powerful earthquake greatly shook buildings, and there were no immediate reports of damage. According to BBC, the earthquake could also be felt in the Indian capital of New Delhi. Annette Ekin, an Al Jazeera reporter in Kathmandu, said there was "utter panic" as people feared the worst.

The earth just started rolling. Everyone ran out onto the streets and all of the shops are now shuttered.

Tuesday's quake comes just two weeks after one of the worst earthquakes to hit Nepal in history. The country has been in recovery mode, though aid efforts have struggled with many still in need of basic resources and shelter. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala last week said he expected relief efforts to pick up in due time.

We are not very happy with the speed of the work. The people are very patient and reacting with no anger. They are deprived but I am surprised how calm they are. I am quite optimistic that in due course of time things will be better.
