See You In The Fall, 'Shark Tank'

by Laura Rosenfeld

Broadcast networks may have given the axe to plenty of fan favorites when they announced the TV schedules for the 2015-2016 season during this week's upfronts. However, Shark Tank is sitting pretty, having already been renewed for another season. Now the question remains, when will Shark Tank Season 7 premiere? As I just mentioned, the upfronts took place this week, so the networks have just settled on their fall line-ups. We've still got some time before they pin down premiere dates. One thing at a time, people. [UPDATE: ABC has announced that Shark Tank will premiere on Sep. 25.]

That means ABC has yet to officially announce a premiere date for Season 7 of Shark Tank. Unfortunately, we can't mark our calendars with the exact date that Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Kevin "Mr. Wonderful" O'Leary will be back in our lives after what is sure to be a loooooong Shark-less summer. Unless, of course, you are living the life and end up partying with these fabulously rich men and women. If that's the case, kudos to you, my friend. You have truly made it.

As far as Shark Tank's return date goes, Shark Tank 's first three seasons had summer, spring, and winter premiere dates, respectively, before the show really found its groove, not to mention avoided cancellation. Seasons 4 through 6, which have stuck to a more traditional full-season schedule, premiered on a Friday during one of the last three weeks of September. With that in mind, it's likely that Shark Tank Season 7 will premiere on either Sept. 11, Sept. 18, or Sept. 25 on ABC, all solid fall premiere dates.

But here's what we know for sure. Shark Tank will be airing in its regular time slot of 9 p.m. EST, which is exactly what ABC should be doing. Shark Tank is the No.1 Friday night TV show among adults 18 to 49, averaging a 2.3 rating and 8.4 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

What that means in English is that Shark Tank is doing awesome in its time slot, so it will probably be a long time before ABC decides to stop investing in the show. In fact, Shark Tank has done so well in its six seasons so far that ABC has spun it off into the series Beyond the Tank, which catches up with the entrepreneurs that scored deals on the show to see how their businesses are faring with the sharks in their corner. ABC aired a three-episode "event" of Beyond the Tank this month, which concludes with Friday night's episode. However, the network has already announced that Beyond the Tank will be back for a second season, although it is not currently on its fall schedule, so it's also unclear when that series will return for round two.

So we unfortunately have a good four months ahead of us without any new Shark Tank episodes. Why, that's just enough time to come up with your own Shark Tank-worthy invention to maybe try and get on the show one day. Or, you could always just watch re-runs. Your call.
