Let These New 'Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' Images Get You Excited For the Film
Though they've already debuted a new trailer earlier today, Warner Bros. isn't done rolling out the promotional material for the new Hobbit film. Thanks to The Wrap, we now have our first look at a few posters for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug , including one that showcases Orlando Bloom's return as the angel-face, soft-mane Legolas. I'm a girl, and even I envy that dude's hair.
There are seven posters in all, and two of them went to newcomers Evangeline Lilly, who portrays an original female elf named Tauriel, and Luke Evans, who portays Bard the Bowman. According to IGN , this is likely because the two of them will be "featured heavily" in the final two Hobbit films, so we're to become more acquainted with them beforehand. The remaining five were given to the main players in the film: Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Orlando Bloom as the dreamy Legolas, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Ian McKellan as Gandalf the Grey, and Lee Pace as Thranduil, an elven king with hair so long, silky, and blonde that rivals even Legolas'.
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is the follow-up to 2012's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and focuses on the hobbits as they set out on a quest to save the world from "grave danger." Since this is based on a J.R.R. Tolkein story, suffice to say, shit goes down.
