What Will Taylor Wear To The Billboard Awards?

by Rosie Narasaki

The Billboard Awards are coming up on May 17th, and Taylor Swift has a whopping 14 Billboard nominations in hand so you'd better believe she's going to dress accordingly. In the Swift days of yesteryear, some good old red carpet forecasting would be pretty easy: Just choose a handful of the most ethereal, most wood nymph-esque, sparkliest gold and/or silver gowns, and you had yourself some frontrunners. Nowadays, though? She's actually been switching it up quite a bit. There are a few constants, though: She likes a good cut-out (though no bellybutton), and she tends to favor a bold, graphic style — oh, and she still loves sparkles, of course.

She can rock a formal cocktail dress like nobody's business, but since this is the Billboard Music Awards, and she'll be premiering her new music video for "Bad Blood," I'm going to hazard a guess that Swift is going to dress more on the formal, show-stopping side. I'm thinking she'll go big, like the Elie Saab she wore to the 2015 Grammys or the Roberto Cavalli Atelier she wore to the 2015 BRIT Awards. We might also see her get a little more risky (or maybe even risqué) to go along with the general badassery surrounding the aforementioned "Bad Blood." So, with that in mind, here are six style forecasts for Ms. Swift at the 2015 Billboard Awards (all chosen very scientifically with science, obviously).

6. and 5. Julien MacDonald

Perfect for "Bad Blood," eh?

I could also see her going with this number — we know she loves her silver sequins, and the ultra-daring side cut-outs might add a Swift-approved touch.

4. Oscar de la Renta

She's worn a lot of Oscar de la Renta in the past (perhaps most notably at the 2014 Met Gala), and this scene-stealing number might appeal to her dramatic side.

3. Monique Lhuillier

Strong shoulders and subtle cut-outs with retro vixen flair to spare? This one's got "Swift" written all over it.

2. and 1. Elie Saab

The blue swirls on the bottom of the skirt are to die for, and I could definitely see Taylor rocking that cut-out neckline.

And last but not least?

Ooh. How epic would this be? Especially with the black leather gloves...
