Check Out This Impressive Louboutin DIY

by Jamie Cuccinelli

I've seen some pretty amazing, how-the-hell-did-they-do-that, DIY's ever since Pinterest insanity took over my life. But this Christian Louboutin DIY takes the cake. An intrepid Redditor recently showed off prom shoes she made as a gift to her sister that were not only fabulous, but also reminiscent of the $5,995 Christian Louboutin Daffodile Strass heels. The best part? She DIY'd them for only 40 bucks, plus two months of labor. This girl officially wins the Best Sister of the Year award, hands down. I don't even love myself enough to spend two months painstakingly gluing itty bitty rhinestones to a pair of heels.

So, how did she transform $40 into some seriously sparkly Louboutin lookalikes for her sister's prom night? She started with an inexpensive $25 pair of shoes that she first painted blue, adding the signature Louboutin red soles too, of course. She sealed the paint with polyurethane and then used super strong E6000 glue to attach 3 mm, 5 mm, and 6 mm sized rhinestones. Rinse and repeat every night for two months.

"Keep glueing until you see blue rhinestones in your dreams," she instructs. The Reddit comments suggested that her little sis owes her a nice dinner, at the very least. Or, you know, her first born child. Either will do.

Despite how labor intensive these shoes are, this DIY requires little skill and will get you a pair crazy beautiful Louboutin copy cats while still leaving you with cash for semi-important things like paying rent and eating.
