Marvel & 'X-Men' Fans Will Appreciate This

by Tracy Dye

With summertime comes a slew of summer blockbusters and 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron has already cemented itself as a knockout hit, as our favorite crime-fighting avengers have regrouped to deliver all the kick-butt action that garnered so much acclaim — and a place in our superhero-loving hearts — during The Avengers in 2012. Along with new battles comes the introduction of comic book favorite, Quicksilver, who is played by Aaron-Taylor Johnson in Age of Ultron. Fans may remember Quicksilver previously being portrayed by Evan Peters in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. If you're wondering why Quicksilver was not reprised by Peters, much of it has to do with the fact that Avengers is owned by Disney's Marvel Studios, while X-Men is owned by 20th Century Fox. It may seem a bit complex, but in a nutshell, paths couldn't really be crossed (and roles couldn't necessarily be reprised) as is the case with Andrew Garfield no longer being on deck to reprise his role as Spider-Man now that the franchise has been taken over by Marvel.

While Johnson and Peters' paths aren't crossing as far as the role of Quicksilver is concerned (unless they happened upon Bizzaro World, which would be AWESOME), many may not remember that the two were once joined at the proverbial hip for a different kind of superhero movie. In a May 15 post on Tumblr, user caralaroccasugden reminded us of a time when both Quicksilvers were in a movie together:

Say what?! That's right, both actors starred in 2010's Kick-Ass, with Johnson starring as Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass, an ordinary teenager setting out to become a real-life superhero and Peters playing his best friend Todd Hanes, who also set out to be a superhero known as "Ass-Kicker."

At least if we can't have both Quicksilvers onscreen in Age of Ultron or X-Men, we can go back and watch the two fight side-by-side in Kick-Ass.

I'll let this information sink in.
