The 2015 Billboard Music Awards' Most Body Positive Outfits, From The Reveal & Conceal To The Strategic Peekaboos

Whenever another awards show rolls around, the relentless talking heads of entertainment media are unleashed for another round of red carpet body shaming, but what about at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards? Because if I'm being honest, I most often find myself giving the Side Eye To End All Side Eyes, thinking to myself, “Aren’t you tired? Aren’t we over this already?”

Instead, wouldn’t it be more refreshing to focus on how wonderfully body positive the red carpet can be? Now, don’t get me wrong: Celebrities aren’t exactly at the progressive forefront of the body positivity movement. In fact, I'd even argue that it's part of their job to adhere to impossible beauty standards.

However, at the end of the day, I remind myself that they are also just human beings, each of whom are most likely battling their own insecurities on their journey to self-love and acceptance. Luckily, now more than ever, celebrities are choosing to express themselves with their body positive sartorial choices on the red carpet. Here’s who’s owning it and loving it at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

A slinky black slip dress leaves absolutely no room to hide your figure — and why should you? Charli XCX looks amazing in this easy frock keeping it simple, sweet, and totally body pos.

Idina Menzel

Idina is 43 years old, and she still has absolutely no issues showing off her curves. In fact, her sexy, classic look is a great nod to the fact that you can embrace your beauty at any age and still look flawless.

David Lee Roth

Body positivity is about being 100 percent accepting of and happy with who you are, right now. No one was a better example of this on the red carpet than David Lee Roth — his confident smile simply didn’t quit.

Pentatonix

This dashing a cappella tribe was totally unafraid to rock bold fashion on the red carpet tonight, particularly Scott Hoying, who eschewed stereotypical “manly” colors and gave me life with this bold pinky-salmon jacket.

Taraji P. Henson

Taraji is the queen of making an entrance, and she definitely pulled out all the stops when she arrived on the red carpet. These cutouts are simply amazing, and Taraji looks absolutely confident and radiant in each and every photo.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora came to the red carpet and told Giuliana Rancic that she was “basically naked,” and we love the fact that she has the confidence to wear such a revealing look. The stars on the gown are a bold touch, and despite being somewhat precarious, this dress actually looks comfortable.

Meghan Trainor

Meghan doesn’t have the stereotypical Hollywood body, but she always finds a way to flaunt her curves and look amazing. This skintight sequined number shows off how proud she is of her body, and that thigh-high slit is simply amazing.

Jennifer Lopez

To be perfectly honest, there’s never a moment when J. Lo is not perfect. However, this particular gown is totally gorgeous, fantastically revealing, and absolutely body positive.
