Get In On the Retro Sneakers Trend With J.Crew

by Rosie Narasaki

J. Crew is getting in on the retro sneakers trend with J. Crew x Onitsuka Tiger, a new collaboration. The look is perfectly on brand for the retailer — if you pair the kicks with cuffed ankle jeans, a distressed T shirt, an antiqued statement necklace, and coral lipstick, of course — so they've paired up with the ultra hip footwear brand to create a very trendy new-old collection that is to-die-for cool.

Sneakers are everywhere. They were all over all the international fashion weeks (especially Seoul Fashion Week), and they have prime real estate on Eva Chen's carefully curated Instagram account (they were even featured in her adorable pregnancy announcement), so let's face it: old-fashioned sneakers are basically taking over the world.

The only downside of J. Crew's new sneaker venture? The collaboration only includes men's shoes, so unless your feet are on the larger side (women's size 8 and up, since the smallest size currently available is a men's 6), you're a tad out of luck. That said, J. Crew and Onitsuka Tiger aren't the only ones out there re-releasing and reinventing old favorites. Brands like Puma, Nike and New Balance also offer some adorably vintage-esque options.
