Obama to Deliver Climate Change Speech on Tuesday

by Kayla Higgins

President Obama is ready to talk about climate change. The White House has announced that a big speech on the issue is scheduled for 1:35 PM EST on Tuesday at Georgetown University.

In a promo video for the speech, Obama says he will announce "a national plan to reduce carbon pollution, prepare our country for the impacts of climate change, and lead global efforts to fight it."

The speech is also expected to call for placing controls on greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the energy efficiency of appliances and buildings, and expanding renewable energy.

A plan from the Obama Administration on climate change has been long-awaited by environmental advocates. Unfortunately, the likelihood of these plans becoming actual congressional legislation is low, since Republicans currently control the House, and have the numbers to create filibusters in the Senate.
