Neville Longbottom. Nearly Nude.

by Nicole Pomarico

It's old news, but it's still a beautiful thing to think about: Harry Potter 's Neville Longbottom grew up to be hot. It's true. Since his days of playing nerdy Neville Longbottom in the HP movies, Matthew Lewis has blossomed into a fine piece of 25-year-old man, and now that J.K. Rowling has realized it, she's a little taken aback. In photos recently released from Lewis' shoot for the U.K.'s Attitude magazine, he poses nearly nude in a pair of briefs that don't exactly conceal a whole lot. And, you know, a cardigan, because it gets chilly during those late nights at Hogwarts. And on the cover of the mag, he poses in a tank top, but just barely. Like any motherly figure, the woman who dreamed Neville into reality is feeling a little uncomfortable, as evidenced by Rowling's reaction to Lewis' nearly nude photos on Twitter.

It's not like I can blame Rowling for feeling maternal over the actor, who was only 12 years old when he appeared in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He's grown up right in front of our very eyes, and while fans are very thankful for the opportunity to... see Lewis in this way, it seems the author is feeling a bit awkward about it. And can you blame her, with a cover like this?

It all started when Rowling first caught a glimpse of the beauty I just shared with you, and it evolved into basically the most hilarious series of tweets ever, mostly because she referenced that time Dan Radcliffe was nude in Equus:

Obviously, Lewis saw her tweet and responded, but Rowling still wanted him to put some clothes on.

Soon, Jason Isaacs, better known as Lucius Malfoy in the Potter films, got in on the antics.

And if these tweets weren't enough to make your day, surely these fan reactions ought to do it.

The moral of the story: Give us as much stripped down Neville as we can handle, world! But somebody should probably warn J.K. Rowling to avoid the Internet on those days first
