These Duct Taped Prom Ensembles Could Win $10,000

by Stephanie Chon

Duck Tape is back at it again with yet another Stuck at Prom contest in order to see who is this year’s duct tape prom king and/or queen. Last year, the winners Kechantra and Jeffery blew everyone away with their amazing black, gold, and bright blue ensembles, but this year’s Duck Tape Stuck at Prom competition is already looking super impressive.

From seeing adorable themes like sun and moon to autumn trees, it’s hard to guess which couples are going to take first place for the category of Best Theme. There are a total of six categories: Best Detail Work, Best Singles Entry (for all you independent peeps), Best Theme, Best Prop/Setting, Most Outrageous, and Best Use of Color. The ones with the most votes by July 8 for each respective category will be the winners.

For the past 15 years, Duck Tape has been hosting the Stuck at Prom contest to provide over $50,000 in scholarships to students across the US and Canada. The grand prize winners are awarded a whopping $10,000, runner-ups are awarded $5,000, third place gets $3,000, and the rest of the finalists earn $500. So if none of those Cache or Windsor dresses are working out for you, why not make your own out of duct tape?

On average, it takes couple about 100 hours to create their prom attire, but entries are open until June 1, so you’ve still got plenty of time! (I bet those 100 hours will fly by with a bumpin' prom playlist.) If you need some inspiration or if you want to scope out your friendly competition, head over to Duck Tape’s Stuck at Prom website or check out some this year's entries below.
