Taylor Swift Made Us Optimistic About Love...SRSLY

by Tracy Dye

Taylor Swift is a certifiable hitmaker and many of those hits have centered on breakups (hi, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"). More recently, Swift expanded her breakup-anthem-savvy horizons by penning the explosive track "Bad Blood", which talks about the breakup of a friendship rather than a romantic one. I'd like to think that Swift — being the awesomely sweet songstress she is — is able to "Shake It Off" when it comes to said breakups after putting words to paper, just as many a Swift fan feels, like, thousands of times better about their respective heartaches (I know that feel, guys!) once finished listening to one of her many breakup tracks.

What we often may forget is that Swift's songs are not partial to heartbreak — quite the opposite! The "Style" hitmaker has offered up several romantic tunes over the years that basically showcase Swift as an eternal optimist. Remember "Begin Again" from Red? So good, right? SO GOOD! Furthermore, that track was basically an anti-breakup song, speaking of the importance of not giving up on romance simply because a previous relationship has left you feeling jilted. Because we can all use a pause from the cynicisms that often comes with dating and relationships, let's take a look at seven Taylor Swift songs that made us optimistic about love.

"Everything Has Changed" From Red

This one features Ed Sheeran! What more could you ask for?

"Begin Again" From Red

One of my all-time favorite Swift ballads, this song talks about the surprise of finding love again after feeling jaded by a bad breakup. Check out these super sweet lyrics:

"And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid / I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did / I've been spending the last eight months / Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end / But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again."

Are you feeling all the feels? I'm seriously feeling all the feels.

"Mine" From Speak Now

This song tells the story of beating the odds in a relationship that may have initially seemed doomed.

"Braced myself for the 'Goodbye.' / 'Cause that's all I've ever known / Then you took me by surprise / You said, 'I'll never leave you alone.'"

Love. It.

"Love Story" From Fearless

Fairytale romances FTW!

"You Belong With Me" From Fearless

Although the lyrics may be left up for interpretation as to whether or not Swift gets the guy, the music video shows us that nice girls can definitely finish first.

"Sparks Fly" From Speak Now

Was this song written about Ryan Gosling? No? Well, sparks fly whenever I see him smile, and I also wanted an excuse to use this GIF:

Fearless From Fearless

The lyric, "It's the first kiss, it's flawless, really something, it's fearless" says it all.
