Amy Schumer Needs To Be The Next Bachelorette

by Kaitlin Reilly

Amy Schumer is on everyone's radar lately, and it's not just because of her hilarious (and super feminist) Comedy Central sketch series Inside Amy Schumer or even her starring role in the new Judd Apatow-directed comedy Trainwreck . The latest reason why the comedian is making headlines is because fans want her to be the next Bachelorette — yes, seriously. Schumer appeared on Monday's episode of The Bachelorette in order to teach the not-particularly-hilarious dudes a thing or two about standup comedy (and to burn the season's resident douchebag JJ in the process) but that wasn't enough for diehard Schumer fans. Now fans of the comedian are campaigning for Schumer to be handing out roses as the next Bachelorette, and it's pretty much the best idea anyone has had regarding The Bachelorette ever.

I have no idea whether Schumer would take on the challenge of being America's most romantically coveted reality star, but I do know that it would make The Bachelorette far more interesting than it has ever been before. (Sorry, ABC, but I wasn't thrilled with your "dueling Bachelorette" idea.) Even EP Robert Mills is on board:

So what makes Schumer an ideal candidate for a far more modern Bachelorette? Here's how Schumer would drastically improve the dating game.

She'd Weed Out The Jerks Early

Schumer does not want scrubs. She spent five minutes with JJ before declaring him a turd — it would take just one rose ceremony for her to remove weak links from the chain.

She Won't Put Up With Sexist BS

Gone are the men who cannot fathom why Schumer might not be down for staying home and raising their kids on his family's Oklahoma farm.

In Fact, She'll Put Up With No BS At All

I can just imagine Schumer shutting down any guy who tries to brag about his trust fund or high-powered career.

Her Entrances Would Be Even More Hilarious Than This:

Who says the boys get to have all the fun?

Her Conversations With The Guys Would Be Anything But Basic

Because, really, how often do you have to talk about how much you just adooooore your niece?

Her Dates Would Be Fun

Goodbye, romantic French restaurants, hello go-karting.

She Wouldn't Wait For A Dude To Propose

Even though it's The Bachelorette, there's this unwritten rule that the guys — a.k.a. the contestants— are the ones who must do the proposing. Schumer would nix that rule in an instant, though I'm not so sure she'd ask for a guy's hand in marriage, either — maybe she could ask them to marathon some House of Cards with her and see how things go?

Bottom Line: Make it so, ABC. This would be the best. Bachelorette season. ever.
