Is There An Explicit Version Of Maroon 5's Song?

If you've been hearing Maroon 5's new song "This Summer's Gonna Hurt" on the radio, there's a good chance you're confused by the lyrics and wondering whether there's some explicit version that would clear it all up. After all, this wouldn't be the first time that taking a curse word out of a song for a radio edit completely changed the meaning, right? I know we all remember CeeLo's "Forget You," and that elephant sound that played during Missy Elliot's "Work It" instead of the word "d***." So, when I saw Adam Levine and the rest of the guys performing their new song on The Voice last week, and heard lyrics like, "This summer's gonna hurt like a mother AHA!," I suspected that it was one of those same situations. Mostly because that lyric makes zero sense.

And it turns out... I was right. The song is about an incredibly hot girl who has nothing to add in the intelligence department, and is partying a lot and doing drugs. So, even though the song's protagonist knows he should stay away from her, he basically sees an endless summer stretching out in front of him where he tries not to sleep with her because of her personality, and fails because of her hot hot bod. A tale as old as time! And one that definitely hurts like a motherf***er, which is the original lyric. If it were me, I think I would've switched it to "hurt like a mother-effer," but what do I know? I'm no Adam Levine.

Here's the lyric video for the explicit version, with all f-bombs still in play.

Makes a ton more sense, doesn't it?
