Kate Moss Gives The Most Badass Cliche Advice

by Lindsey Rose Black

In a recent interview featured on Styleite, Kate Moss shared some life advice that although cliche, was totally badass. If anyone thought fame would go the the supermodel's head, they thought wrong. The bombshell sounds just like the edgy, honest, and "real" 17-year-old from Croydon she once was, and there are some legit life lessons to be gleaned from her interview.

Knight focused on having the two discuss Moss's big international break with the Calvin Klein "Obsession" ads that skyrocketed her career. She was only 17 at the time, dating her photographer, Mario Sorrenti, and about to hit mega-fame, but seemed unfazed and unafraid of her rapidly changing world. While describing her transition into a thriving modeling career that only continues to get better, Kate offered up some cliche advice in a refreshingly biting way.

Here are Kate Moss's Top 5 most badass pieces of advice to follow.

1. Set Personal Boundaries in Relationships

While talking about shooting the Obsession ad on vacation with her then-boyfriend/photographer, Moss threw down the importance of saying no. When Sorrenti would tell Kate to "LAY DOWN" or "get up on the roof and take [her] clothes off" for more pictures, sometimes Moss would simply yell at him to lay the --eff off. Maybe not the most eloquent approach but, hey, it got the job done.

2. Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously

On suddenly getting her own stretch limos, Moss remarked, "I’d be like, ‘that is so embarrassing, I’m not getting in a stretch limo by myself to go to a shoot, I mean what is wrong — ‘ it was all that New York kind of, ‘Oh no you’re fabulous! Turn up to a Meisel shoot and look fabulous!’ I was wearing trainers."

3. Party Hard

Moss thrived in New York, and was no stranger to the late night scene. She giggled when talking about her supersonic passenger jet, The Conchorde, telling Knight, "I'd stay up too late, and I'd be like, 'I don't want to go tonight, I'll go in the morning.' So I'd go in the morning and still get to work on time." Total reminder that it's okay to work hard and still have plenty of fun. #KillinIt

4. Remember Where You Came From

When Knight asked if she ever felt better than her peers, Moss matter-of-factly stated, "No, because I'm from Croydon. And if you get above your station then somebody will fucking knock you down. Brothers, family, cousins...." True that.

5. Having Friends Matters Most

Moss told Knight that New York is a very hardcore place, and that she would've felt totally lost had it not been for her buddies. Bringing back up the stretch limo, she told Knight, "Naomi and Christy took me under their wing. I was young, but I had friends [that] all had stretch limos so I didn't feel so uncomfortable. We all drove together after that." Limos ain't no thang without your besties!

As Moss continues to nab new campaigns left and right, it's clear this grounded celeb is always going to be true to her punky, witty self. You can watch the full interview here.
