How Victoria Beckham Does Jetset Chic

by Jamie Cuccinelli

It's not easy to look chic at 30,000 feet, but the always-trendy Victoria Beckham's airport style at JKF this weekend definitely rose to the occasion. It's finally June, which means diving into favorite summer styles, such as beachwear, resort wear, and of course, jet-set style. I mean, how else are you going to get to the resort besides looking fabulous on the plane first? At least that's Victoria Beckham's opinion and would you expect anything less than jet-set perfection from the poshest former Spice Girl?

On a trip to New York to present her ready-to-wear spring and summer pre-collection, Beckham strolled through JFK in an expertly-tailored mod print suit. The silhouette of the red longline blazer, contrasted with the fitted cigarette pant and creamy lace blouse, earned Beckham a first-class seat in the style section.

While a tailored suit may not be the most ideal outfit for everyone when they're running across the airport to make their connection with an armful of luggage, jet-set style is possible for us plebeians who don't necessarily have access to private planes or a personal army to carry our luggage. While it's nice to look just as fabulous heading to our summer vacay as when we leave after a week of sun and sand, with airplane style, comfort is key.

Start your vacation off right with these chic and versatile pieces that'll get you from a long-haul flight to baggage claim, while looking like the fabulous little jetsetter you are at heart!

Leather Leggings

Sorry, but the airplane is not your bedroom, so it's really not socially acceptable to wear your PJ's aboard (unless you're Taylor Swift and they are cat pajamas). Leather leggings have all the stretchiness and comfort as yoga pants, but with a dose of sleek, edgy style. Throw on a light and loose chiffon blouse and you're set to jet!

Layer Up

It's no secret that planes tend to be infamously chilly, so layers are always a must for a comfortable flight. Pashminas, shawls, wraps, and light, cotton scarves à la Lilly Pulitzer all tend to look much more put together than your old college sweatshirt or denim jacket and are a breath of fresh air in a sea of black cardigans.

Leave the Heels at Baggage Claim

But that doesn't mean you should wear your grass-stained sneakers. A pair of smart loafers or boldly printed flats will make standing in the security line for an hour both comfy and chic.

Wrinkle-Free Wears

Fabrics like seersucker don't show wrinkles, keeping you from looking like you just slept in your clothes (which you basically did) after a long-haul flight. Plus, they're light and breathable to keep you comfy.

Flowy Dresses

Ever noticed how you instantly feel dressier just by throwing on a dress or skirt? Jet-set chic is just that easy! Choose a soft, breathable cotton in a flowy style and even the flight attendants will be asking you for your onboard fashion secrets.
