JT says he isn't cool, but we beg to differ
One former Mickey Mouse club member has a very specific definition of what's cool, and according to the man himself, Justin Timberlake is not cool. In an interview with GQ magazine for their December issue, he said, "being cool is about keeping your blood pressure steady." He continued to offer this advice:
"Don't be cool. Be passionate. Be dedicated. Be tenacious. Be uncompromising. Be pissed. Be happy. Be sad. ... I've made a career out of doing things that I should not be doing. I wasn't cool about it. Because being cool would have meant I passed up on those opportunities. If you do that, it's because you're afraid. And what are you afraid of?
Basically, being cool means having a lack of passion. He continued to say that he grew up, "with a little bit of a chip on my shoulder. Sometimes I find it funny that I've been able to acquire the patience it takes to be kind to people in our business. Because sometimes I just want to f****g kill everybody."
WOAH, JT. Let's not get our panties in a twist. Although he may have momentarily lost his cool, we'd have to argue that the Runner, Runner star is usually pretty. Damn. Cool. Don't believe us? Here's seven examples of Justin being cooler than cool (Can I get a collective, "Ice coldddd"?).
1. Motherlover
Pretty much every single skit and short JT has performed in on SNL is better than the last, but this particular musical short is the epitome of awkward hilariousity (let's pretend that's a word) we want to see from a former 'N SYNC member. "Every Mother's Day needs a mother's night," pretty much sums up the pathos of the video. Also, Justin does call himself "cool and thoughtful" in the clip, just sayin'.
2. Dick in a Box
In "Motherlover" JT croons, "This is the second best idea we've ever had." The first best idea? Oh you know what it is, it's Justin's dingaling (sorry) in a box. Christmas came early this year! (SORRY!)
3. Cry Me a River
He may have been freshly cheated on by then-girlfriend Britney Spears, but Justin Timberlake is cool as a cucumber in his revenge anthem, "Cry me a River." Can't you tell by the ambiguous and monk-like chanting in the background?
4. #Hashtag
Because really, what's cooler than using the word "hashtag" in real life conversations? Hashtag, nothing.
5. Evolution of Dance
Including moves such as "The Old-Timey Railroad Car," and "The Butt Wax-On, Wax-Off," Justin Timberlake proves that he's one of the coolest cats out their when he showcased his moves in one of Jimmy Fallon's infamous, "Evolution of Dance" numbers.
6. The Social Network
Remember when Justin starred in The Social Network and bed Harvard students, started million dollar companies and generally didn't give a fuck? He also was the authority on cool. "What's cooler than a million dollars?" You are, Justin. YOU ARE.
