6 Tom Hiddleston Videos From Before He Was Famous

by Jaclyn Anglis

You probably knew him first as his Avengers character Loki, but Tom Hiddleston has expanded far beyond the breakout role. Fresh off several appearances in mini-series and even a cameo in Muppets Most Wanted, Hiddleston is in the midst of a bunch of new projects that will come out soon. It's an exciting time to be a fan of Tom Hiddleston, there is no doubt about it. But some fans might be wondering about what the actor was like on camera before he blew up and got really famous.

Luckily, we live in the age of YouTube, where finding old videos of the English actor is not so difficult. And it's really a treat once you do. You can see old television movie appearances that he has made and even old shots of him performing onstage in plays, before he officially hit it big as Thor's counterpart. You can also find old interviews with him right before he was about to hit it big in Hollywood. In retrospect, it is really exciting to look back and see his old stomping grounds, as well as to see how far he has come from the start. Take a look!

1. The Life And Adventures Of Nicholas Nickleby

In this 2001 television movie, Hiddleston portrayed a lord. Though it was far from being a starring role, it is one of his first notable debuts. Can you believe how much younger he looks here?

2. The Gathering Storm

In this clip from a 2002 television movie, Hiddleston plays Randolph Churchill in a love story examining Winston Churchill and his wife's troubled times. Apparently, he was just 21 years old when this came out. Whoa!

3. Cymbeline

Hiddleston bursting into song in character at a Shakespearan play is the video you didn't know that you needed to watch. Though it is short, this clip from his 2007 performance will make your entire day. Maybe even your week.

4. Unrelated

Catch a glimpse of Hiddleston in his first film role, after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Portraying arrogant, angsty teenage character Oakley in the 2008 film, he got his first chance of really putting his acting chops to work on the big screen.

5. BAFTA Interview

Watch Hiddleston talk visual effects after presenting the award for that category at the 2009 BAFTA Craft Awards. Also, he reveals who he would play if he was in Dr. Who! Exciting stuff.

6. Comic-Con Interview

To close the round-up off, here is an interview with Hiddleston the year before Thor officially came out. In other words, an interview before the star completely exploded. Check out how comfortable he is on camera, even when not portraying a character. It is pretty obvious here that he had what it takes to make it in Hollywood. Good for him! (And good for the rest of us!)
