What's Missing From New 'Mockingjay' Trailer?

by Kelsie Gibson

As a huge Hunger Games fan, I'm more than excited about the next and final installment, Mockingjay — Part 2. Not only will it surely be the most intense and drama-filled movie of the series, but the fact that it is the last time our favorite actors (I'm looking at you J. Law and Josh Hutcherson) will be together on the screen is truly saddening. It's been a long time coming, but now fans are finally getting the first look at the Mockingjay — Part 2 trailer.

On Tuesday, Lionsgate unveiled the masterpiece that is the first trailer for the movie, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I have to admit that I was a little dissatisfied with Mockingjay — Part 1, what with the lack of book references and decreased Finnick Odair scenes, but, if this trailer is any indication of the next movie as a whole, I am already overjoyed. In less than two minutes, the trailer manages to pack in so many of our favorite moments from the book, including Finnick and Annie's wedding and soldier Katniss Everdeen with the rebels.

While the new trailer was nothing but glorious, there were a few things from the books that didn't make the cut here. And these few things would have taken the trailer from great to epic. Be warned, however, there are major SPOILERS ahead!

1. Annie's Green Dress

Excuse me, but why is Annie wearing white in the wedding scene? People who read the books clearly know that Katniss let her wear one of her old dresses from the Victory Tour — a dress that was green.

2. President Coin As a Villain

Why are they still making Coin seem nice? She's gotta flip the switch eventually. Maybe they're just waiting for the right moment to shock audiences. Because, honestly, she's much scarier than President Snow.

3. More Peeta

I really hope the final film focuses on his struggle to come back to his former self. And I just need more Josh Hutcherson on the screen in general.

4. Explanation of Pods

You remember that creepy wave of tar in the trailer? Yeah, well, that was set off by a little thing called a pod. They are similar to the contraptions used in the games, basically making this the final Hunger Games we've all been waiting for. Be prepared — they get way more creepy and dangerous than the trailer shows.

5. Capitol Citizens

I'm more than ready for more crazy Capitol fashion, because they really go above and beyond weird in the books. Even the slightest glimpse of Tigris in the trailer would have been amazing. Let it be known that she actually had her face surgically altered to look like a tiger, whiskers in all.

6. Johanna Mason

Really though, where was she this whole trailer? Her story line is so amazing in the books, and I really hope the movie showcases her growing friendship with Katniss.

7. "Real Or Not Real?"

Honestly, it's probably best they didn't include this yet, because I don't know if I would be able to handle it. As Peeta tries to go back to his old self, Katniss and the other rebels help him decipher what is fact and false. There won't be a single dry eye in the theater.
