The dreaded day is back again — the season finale of Game of Thrones . The end of the fifth season will air on Sunday, June 14 on HBO, but for those who don't watch the epic series on the old TV set, what time will the Game of Thrones finale be on HBO GO? The Season 5 final episode is something not to be missed — and definitely not something to be spoiled. And, after June 7's "The Dance of Dragons" episode ended with Daenerys Targaryen riding her dragon to safety, you are not going to want to be even one millisecond behind watching the Season 5 finale episode, "Mother's Mercy" when it airs at 9 p.m. on HBO.
But, praise the Many-Faced God! Game of Thrones viewers who turn to HBO GO and HBO NOW are blessed. HBO will have the show available on its online platforms the same time it airs on the premium cable channel. While HBO GO has been around for years for subscribers, HBO NOW allows you to watch HBO shows without having the full cable subscription. And, both ways to watch Game of Thrones online will be showing "Mother's Mercy" at 9 p.m. ET.
As an avid user of HBO GO (thanks for keeping up with that cable subscription, Mom and Dad!), I can personally vouch for its efficiency in putting up episodes of its shows the moment they air on television. I've benefitted from the service with shows like True Blood, Girls, True Detective, and — of course — Game of Thrones. While I may encounter issues with buffering due to my Internet provider (I'm pretty sure the Internet world cannot handle the amount of people scrambling to watch Game of Thrones as soon as possible), HBO has always delivered, as it should! HBO GO may seem like a bonus feature, but it is paid for by the subscription... and that's not necessarily cheap.
HBO NOW, the premium channel's newest service that doesn't require a cable subscription, also guarantees the season finale to be on at 9 p.m. But, if you use HBO NOW at exactly that time, you'll might also suffer from the same slow playback and buffering issues as with HBO GO. (If that's the case, do what I do. Wait until a little bit after 10ish, try again, and avoid all social media in the process.)
No matter how you watch, just make sure to catch the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones, "Mother's Mercy" as fast as an army of wights can be created by the White Walker leader. With Sansa, Cersei, Stannis, the Boltons, Jon, Margaery, and Jorah all in precarious situations, (although Daenerys may be in the most physically precarious position of all, atop her dragon), you won't want to miss out on how this season will wrap up.
