We Need Taraji's Strapless Coral Dress Now

by Lauren Turner

I've always loved strapless dresses, but I don't often wear them because I feel kind of basic. That has all changed, however, after Taraji P. Henson wore a coral strapless dress to the American Black Film Festival. The star of Empire (sorry, Terrence), showed up to the premiere of Dope looking like a breath of fresh summer air, in a dress that almost anyone could wear. Needless to say, I loved it.

Henson was named one of the celebrity ambassadors of the 19th annual film fest, and, boy, did she show up ready for the job. Instead of dressing like Cookie, Henson's red carpet style took control, which we honestly think was for the better because Cookie can be kind of scary. The Jay Godfrey dress wasn't just your everyday strapless though. The angled peplum — that you'll miss if you don't look close enough — gave it a nice subtle shape that we could all benefit from.

In my opinion, the simple details is what makes this kind of dress perfect. It's the sort of dress that would fit in well at your next summer wedding or any half-dressy event that you've been invited to. The dress' bright coral color is a great way to get that last minute glow without putting in any work.

So basically, it's the sort of dress that does all of the hard work for you. What more could a girl ask for?

I mean, if we're just being honest, I'll totally ask for the Apple watch and Gucci heels that Henson paired with the fab dress. But, I'll save those for my Christmas wish list.
