Rihanna Gets Emotional in New Music Video

As promised, Rihanna debuted her new music video for "What Now" today — and, no surprise, it was just about as deep, dark, and emotional as all of those preview pictures made it look. Poor Rihanna. She looks like she could use a hug, or a pint of Ben & Jerry's, or something.

The video doesn't really have any overwhelming plot, other than Rihanna sad, Rihanna sing — when the video begins, we see her in a pretty empty, dark, creepy room wearing a nearly sheer dress, before the music starts and she begins singing about a lost love. A sample of the lyrics: "I found the one, he changed my life/ But was it me that changed/ And he just happened to come at the right time/ I'm supposed to be in love/ But I'm numb again." Yeah, she's going through something.

"What Now" is the latest single off of Rihanna's newest album, "Unapologetic," and has been called the "stand-out single" of the album. As MTV News reported just before the release of the music video, Rihanna commented that the video was going to be "kind of eerie, very creepy because 'What Now' is one of those songs that you can get really boring with the visual."

She's right about the eerie — the room kind of looks like something out of the first Saw movie, if I'm being honest. Maybe she'd cheer up a bit if she got out of there, went for a walk in the park, etc.? Just a suggestion.
