More Funny Women Thanks to 'The Heat'

Thanks to Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, two more funny women may be coming to a theater near you sometime in the future. When the female-lead The Heat came out this summer, it broke a giant streak of male-dominated movies and went on to be extremely successful. Luckily, Hollywood noticed and now director Paul Feig is reported to be working on a spin-off film, according to Deadline.

The movie will focus on Beth and Gina, two of McCarthy's character's family members, played by Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin. Not only does this mean we have another female-driven comedy to look forward to, but it'll be introducing audiences to two more hilarious women. The Heat was the first major role for both Denbo and Chaffin, who each have had smaller parts in various films and TV shows.

These women could not be more deserving. Besides being able to steal scenes from McCarthy, something I always thought was impossible, they've also appeared in-character for a bunch of videos on The Heat 's YouTube channel, and somehow manage to make announcing release dates funny.

Between Bridesmaids and The Heat, Feig has proven that he knows how to make a movie where the comedic talents of its female stars shine, giving this Heat spin-off yet another reason to be great. It may be a few years away, but you should already be excited.
