Prada Unveils Their New Inside Bag

by Eliza Florendo

It's always such a surprise to hear that a major fashion house has declining sales, especially one like Prada, who's so iconic, one of fashion's favorite movies even has it in the title. Meryl is rocking Prada, y'all. The legendary brand's strategy is to introduce their Prada Inside bag and have people buzzing about it. Seems like other leather goods brands have been taking the limelight (ahem, Mansur Gauvriel anyone?).

According to The Wall Street Journal, this is the brand's biggest bag launch in eight years. Talk about pressure to perform. The cause? Not-so-great leather good sales. The strategy? The new bag, which has a boxy exterior, and a sewn-in pouch inside that's supposed to act like a dopp kit, according to Racked. The bag will come in a small, medium, and large size, and feature materials like leather, crocodile, and ostrich.

The idea is to create a more "plain" looking bag, making it more likely to be a "staple of a woman’s wardrobe because it isn’t so memorable that she feels she can’t carry it often," according to The Wall Street Journal. The Inside bags have been preordered since June 3, and ranges in price from $2,415 to $39,760. Yikes.

The price tag does pay off in the bag's convenience and function. With different compartments in numerous sizes, it's definitely useful for organizing your items in your purse. If you're anything like me and your bag just becomes a black hole of gum wrappers, coins, and receipts, this could definitely be a game changer. If you're looking for a luxurious bag that's also good on function, this may be the one for you.

I'm a huge fan of wardrobe staples that although pricey, will last a lifetime. The shape, similar to Givency's Antigona bag, is beautifully elegant and will stand the test of time. Prada made a smart move on this one—there's nothing better than a classic.
