Survey Reveals The One Thing Millennials Won't Do

by Augusta Statz

Millennials shocked a lot of people with the results of a recent survey. The data released on June 16 by AdAge revealed that Walmart and Target are Millennials’ favorite places to shop. And honestly, I don’t know why everyone’s so shocked. I want things, and I’d also like to keep my money. Please and thank you!

This whole “have your cake and eat it, too” kind of attitude applies to shopping for clothes (and basically everything) for those of us born between 1980 and 2000. That’s why brands like Uniqlo and Forever 21 are thriving while the higher end designers are in the middle of rethinking their pricing and styles. Why pay a ton of money for something you could get for cheaper, no?

I know that finances have a lot to do with this issue, but I think the whole age think undoubtedly plays a part as well. While I aspire to be able to shop designer brands, it’s not a top priority for me at age 23. I’m trying to work hard now and save money for later (and look fashionable in the process). Although buying higher quality clothes will usually mean that your garments will last longer, and while I do appreciate good quality, I’m not willing to spend an arm and a leg to get something that might not be in style/fit my taste level in a year or two.

So, places like Walmart, Target, H&M, and Forever 21 are where it’s at for now, until others lower their princes. And it seems other GenY-ers agree.

Shopping...

But money...

The struggle is real!
