Look Jurassic Fantastic In 'Jurassic World' Makeup

After watching the entire Jurassic Park series in the cinema, I cannot believe I have yet to see Jurassic World. Hopefully I will make it to the movie theatre before it leaves the big screen (fingers firmly crossed!) and to make up for my tardiness I want to attend in full on Jurassic World inspired makeup. Actually it's really just an excuse for me to show my adoration of this epic, groundbreaking dinosaur series through the medium of makeup, as I'm a huge Jurassic Park nerd. I think most millennials are!

As a kid I was obsessed with dinosaurs as much as I was with My Little Pony and I could tell anyone who would listen all of the different types of dinosaurs and whether they were herbivores or carnivores. I even had a toy T–Rex which, when squeezed, would let out a tremendous roar. However after being accidentally left out in the rain by the son of a family friend (who was akin to a pesky little brother) my T-Rex sounded more like The Terminator. I was mortified. Although I still had my toy velociraptor which had a removable piece of plastic flesh on its side which, once removed, showed the raptor's insides. So I wasn't too sad.

When I first saw the trailer for Jurassic World my eyes grew wide with excitement, and I ran to my fiancé, shoving my iPhone in his face in between squeals. Once he understood that I wanted him to watch a video, he too caught the buzz and we had a giddy discussion about what the newest Jurassic Park instalment may include. It has been a long wait since that first teaser trailer was released.

So if you too are a Jurassic Park super fan and you want to wear a Jurassic World inspired beauty look to the movies – or in everyday life – then here's a selection of Jurassic World makeup looks to unleash your inner Indominus.

Before

Before I began I prepared my face by moisturizing, applying Bourjouis Healthy Mix Foundation in “Vanilla,” and accentuating my eyebrows with a brown Colorsport 24 Hour Eyeliner. I was ready for my Jurassic World adventure!

1. The Claire Dearing Inspired Look

I've heard a lot about this foxy, female lead ranging from some people believing her to be a feminist hero, while others argue that she was portrayed as "sexist" for running away from dinosaurs in high heels. As I have yet to see the movie, I can't make a judgement on this matter, but what I will say is Ms. Dearing looks super stylish! I was so inspired by this dino femme fatale and her smoky eyes, that I had to create a beauty look based around hers.

I first off applied a pink blush to my cheeks. When I say blush I actually mean a bright pink eyeshadow by Technic found in their “Brights Eyeshadows” palette. I improvised because I didn't quite have the right shade of blusher.

I began by constructing my smoky eye. I used my awesome L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Les Ombres palette in “Smoky Eyes Velours Noir” which makes creating a smoky eye so simple. I used the lightest shade to create a base.

I then used the second darkest shade, a grey/silver, along with the diagonal cut applicator to fill in around the outside of the pale base shade. I made sure that the outer corners of my eyes were darkest and that they veered into a point like Claire's style.

After this I drew a cat eye along my top lash line with a Body Collection black liquid eyeliner.

I completed this look with a layer of Lush "Eyes Right" mascara and a mixture of lipsticks which created this pink hue. I applied a pink Technic lipstick in "Bare All" and then dabbed a Revlon Moisture Renew lipstick in "Diva Red" on top. I finished off by using my finger to blend the two together.

2. The Jurassic World Poster Inspired Eye Makeup

I fully expected to see the classic blood red color of the old Jurassic Park logos used on the new Jurassic World posters. To my surprise the logo was given a gorgeous blue hue, so I decided to honor this historic change with a makeup look inspired by the new posters' metallic and blue color scheme.

I began by using the white shade from the aforementioned L’Oréal palette in the inner corners of my eyes.

Then I used the next lightest shade in the palette which was this lovely, silvery shade. I blended these two together and left some room at the outer corners of my eyes.

Next I blended a MAC eyeshadow in "Electric Eel" into the silver shade and swept it out to the outermost points of my eyelids.

To finish this look I applied a coating of my Lush mascara.

3. The Indominus Rex Inspired Look

There's a new dinosaur on the block and her name is Indominus Rex. Apparently she's a genetically modified dinosaur who is set to be a new attraction at the theme park. She looks terrifying. Obviously I couldn't do a Jurassic World inspired makeup article without including the star of the show! So here's a blood chilling Indominus inspired makeup look, which is not for the faint of heart.

To get the ball rolling I swept the palest shade from my L’Oréal palette all over both eyelids – I am definitely getting my money's worth out of that thing!

I wanted to add a real dinosaur feel to this last look so I exaggerated my eyebrows with my aforementioned brown eyeliner and drew spikes along them to symbolize the spiny back of the Indominus.

To get a really ethereal, reptilian vibe, I brushed the white eyeshadow over my face to highlight specific areas to make them appear bonier.

Next I accentuated my lashes with my Lush mascara.

Finally I applied my bright red Revlon lipstick as a nod towards the Indominus' bloodthirsty nature.

Hopefully I can make it to the cinema in one of these looks while the park is still open!
