Holly Madison On A Playboy Bunny's Beauty Routine

by Julia Guerra

With the current release of Hugh Hefner’s former number one bunny’s memoir Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny comes the uncensored truth about what it's really like to live behind the Mansion gates. In a recent interview with Allure, Holly Madison reveals a Playboy bunny’s beauty routine, which may actually be the single most glamorous thing about the job — and considering what goes into becoming one of these busty blonde bombshells, that’s not saying much.

I cannot say I am particularly surprised by just how intense the beauty routine for Hugh Hefner's sexy band of Barbie doll lookalikes actually is. With how similar these women look, a strict regimen is to be expected. But can I understand the appeal of following such a strict regiment in exchange for a sweet paycheck? You bet I can.

Of course, it is one thing to say I would take the money and follow suit; it is another to actually go through the motions without heavily considering if the compensation matches the labor. So while Holly Madison will be the first to tell you she and the rest of the bunnies are more than just blonde hair and boobs, she's also the first to tell us how much work really goes into becoming such a pretty face.

Check out five particularly interesting things we learned about the Playboy bunny beauty regime from Allure's interview with Holly Madison.

1. Long Hair, You Better Care

“For a long time I was the only girl with natural waist-length hair. All of the other girls wore extensions. But when a new girl auditioning for Playmate showed up with waist-length hair, I decided I would cut mine... Hugh had such a bad reaction to it. He was really mean to me when he saw it. I cried for days."

2. The Blonder, The Better

"Hugh wanted white, white hair, with no pigment; so we would shuttle to José Eber salon once a week for touch-ups."

3. Plastic Surgery Encouraged

"Hugh would pay if someone wanted it, so there was almost always someone in the house in recovery.”

4. Prepare To Party

“Preparing took an entire day. In the morning, we would go to the salon to get our hair colored, get a deep-conditioning treatment, blowout, and style. Then nails, hair, tan, spend an hour or so on makeup, and before you knew it the whole day would be gone.”

5. Dare to Stray

"We would be expected to sit with Hef at his table for the entire time. It was heavily discouraged sneaking off on your own to socialize.”
