'Danny Collins' Proves You're Never Too Old

by Anna Klassen

Inspired by a true story, Danny Collins starring Al Pacino and Annette Bening follows an aging rockstar as he embarks on a life changing journey after receiving one very important letter. Rocker Danny Collins has spent a lifetime at the top of the music charts, but can't give up his hard-partying ways he's become so accustomed to over the years. But this all changes when he receives a note — written to him 40 years ago — by the one and only John Lennon urging him to stay true to himself. Also starring Jennifer Garner, Spy's Bobby Cannavale, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Christopher Plummer, the story is a heart-warming and often funny look at an older man trying to reconnect with his younger self.

In an exclusive featurette from the film, we see director Dan Fogelman describe Danny as, "incredibly wealthy, incredibly famous, and incredibly miserable." Jennifer Garner helps to explain the catalyst of the film — Collins finding a letter from his idol and deceased friend John Lennon — and how it drives his actions forward.
