Heroic Pizza Delivery Boy Saves Customer's Life

by Lara Rutherford-Morrison

As if we needed another reason to order pizza: On June 15, a pizza delivery boy saved a man’s life in Colorado. That’s right: PIZZA SAVED A MAN’S LIFE (sort of). It all started when Anson Lemmer, only two days into his summer job at Uncle Pizza in Glenwood, Colorado, went to make his final delivery of the night. Lemmer explained to the Post Independent, “This was my very last order of the night. I expected to just run right out there and back.” When he got to his destination, however, he found a man outside of the house, turning blue. There were two other men with him, one calling for help and the other attempting to perform CPR. Lemmer, who was trained in CPR last year, stepped in and began doing chest compressions. He explains that the man eventually “started to breathe...very wheezy. Not coherent yet. … I backed off.” After 10 to 15 minutes, EMTs arrived and took over.

Lemmer told the Post Independent after the incident, “I called my parents and said this has been the craziest pizza delivery ever. I left a pizza boy and came back a pizza man.” He added, “They didn’t want the pizza after that, of course.” Well, I hope SOMEBODY ate it.

We salute you, Pizza Man!
