Selena Gomez's New Vid Is Sooo Lana Del Rey

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and if Selena Gomez's newest music video is any indication, a certain sultry songstress should consider herself rightfully flattered. You see, on Friday morning, Selana Gomez released the music video for her new song, "Good For You," and it delivered some majorly major Del Rey vibes. Not that the Wizards of Waverly Place alum is "copying" her specific brand or anything — this isn't the 3rd grade — the music video just has a notably subdued, sensual, and adult essence that seems, at the very least, Del Rey-inspired. And, sure, it's a far cry from her days as Alex Russo, but, isn't that the point? The singer is nearly 23 years old, and it was high time she left her squeaky clean Disney persona in the dust, anyway.

"Good For You," is certainly different than anything Gomez has done before, but let's take a page out of our Taylor Swift book of acceptance and realize that different doesn't mean bad or that she's trying to be something she's not. Like with anything, as we age, we evolve. And this evolution is definitely something we can all get behind. Besides, just think of all of the collaboration opportunities this presents. Maybe we'll get a Gomez-Del Rey song... or album... or tour... maybe they'll become a two woman band. Maybe they'll run for President and VP! OK, I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but it's only because I'm loving this "Good For You" music video a little too much. Get on board with me, will ya?!
