Well, That's One Way to Get Hired

In an effort to work with Woody Allen in his next movie, Kevin Spacey apparently got a little creative with his pitch: In a new interview with GQ, Kevin Spacey revealed he bought Woody Allen a Netflix subscription in lieu of just sending a letter to introduce himself. "I believe this: If an actor wants a role or wants to work with somebody, then you do everything within reason to try to get that role. If they want you to audition, you audition. If they want you to screen-test, you screen-test. If they want you to come and tap-dance in their hallway, you tap-dance in their hallway," Spacey told the magazine.

So, earlier this year, Spacey thought outside of the box when it came to conversing with Woody Allen for a role: "I wrote him a letter and introduced myself as an actor he may or may not know. And I sent him a Netflix subscription, because I want him to watch my work," he explained. Creative! And, considering his series, House of Cardswhich he calls "a great job" — is only on Netflix, it makes sense. But did it work?

Yes: Allen responded with, according to Spacey, "an absolutely wonderful letter," and he's now apparently "in contention for" future roles. "I may write to Martin Scorsese next," Spacey commented.

It's a cute story, but Vulture brings up a pretty good point: What exactly did Allen do with that Netflix subscription? Apparently, he said last year in an interview that he doesn't have a computer, so is there just a random Woody Allen Netflix account floating around, unused? Does he stream to his smartphone or tablet? File under things we need to know.
