Why venture across an ocean to find natural beauty when we have Big Sur and this beautiful beach right here in the USA?! Just up the hill from the Keyhole Arch at Pfeiffer Beach are several campgrounds and romantic resorts tucked into the redwood forest. Save the money you’d spend on a plane ticket, and get an extra order of pancakes at Deetjen’s.

Cromwell is more than just a gorgeous landscape — it is home to several wineries that one can visit for tastings. I don’t think I’ve ever had a wine from New Zealand, but I’m definitely interested in trying some! Resort lodgings are shockingly inexpensive at less than $100 per night for a lakeside suite framed by snow-capped mountains.
