The Internet Is Desperate To Find This Couple

by Lara Rutherford-Morrison

One of the scary things about our social media-obsessed age is that there are cameras everywhere. We are constantly surrounded by the danger that someone will see us doing something embarrassing, take a picture, and put it on Instagram for everyone to see. But what we get in return for this paranoia-inducing state of affairs is sometimes pretty cool: The possibility that someone will see us experiencing something amazing, take a picture, and then use social media to track us down and give us the photos. That’s what’s happening right now to an unknown couple that got engaged in Paris on June 21. During a recent trip to the City of Light, Jen Hurd Bohn, from Clovis, California, spied a couple getting engaged as she waited in line at the Eiffel Tower. She took a bunch of photos of the happy moment, but wasn’t able to give them to the couple. A few days later, she posted the images to Facebook, writing,

Saw this guy propose to this girl on the Eiffel Tower Sunday 6/21/15. Wanted to send them the pics but was stuck in line. Help me find them!

What happened next is a true Internet manhunt (couple-hunt?); Bohn’s original post has been shared almost 200,000 times, the incident has been covered by a number of news outlets, and it’s trending on Twitter.

Let’s hope this story gets the happy ending it deserves, and that the mystery couple gets their photos. C’mon, Interwebs! Use your powers for good! You can do it!
